On July 23, 2012, the Circuit of The Americas’ made it known that they had signed an agreement with Live Nation where huge concerts would be held on an open air amphitheater that would be built at the base of the observation tower. This marked the beginning of a project that would see birth to Austin’s largest open air amphitheater.

Designed by Miro Rivera Architects, Austin 360 Amphitheater opened its doors to the public on April 2013, an event that was marked by a concert by Kenny Chesney. It was originally planned that the venue would be called Tower Amphitheater but it was renamed Austin360 Amphitheater in March 2013 and the naming rights were sold to the events website associated with Austin American Statesman.

Austin 360 Design Inspiration

Austin360 Amphitheater together with the Observation Tower were designed by Miro Rivera Architects. The design was inspired by the performance driven design, dynamism and precisions of race cars, which evokes excitement of extreme movement and speed. Right from the top of the Tower above the stage of the amphitheatre, massive red steel tubes sweep down thus helping Austin 360 and tower together. In addition to adding to the visual experience envisioned by the designers, the brightly colored tubes form a prominent design features on the Circuit of Americas.

Austin360 Amphitheater Capacity

Austin360 Amphitheater is considered the America’s new destination where people can go to enjoy live performances with their loved ones under the stars. It is located within Circuit of The Americas’ 1,500-acre sports and entertainment complex. Other parts of COTA include Grand Plaza, Observation Tower and Main Grandstand. The amphitheater has 5,240 reserved seats and can hold up 14,000 people. On the stage front floor, an additional 1,700 seats can be configured. The same space can also offer standing room for up to 2300 people. The sloping grass behind the reserved seats is also used as a general admission spot.

Austin Live Music Capital

The city of Austin (Texas) is often referred by artists along with their fans as the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ and Austin360 Amphitheater has lived up to that reputation by bringing the best and biggest live entertainment events.

Austin 360 boasts of some of the biggest entertainment events and it’s stage has been graced by big names such Lil Wayne, Drake, One Republic, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Pitbull, Train, Maroon 5, Mumford & Sons, Zac brown Band, Kenny Chesney, Kanye West, Nine Inch Nails, KISS, Dave Matthew Band and Jimmy Buffet. In addition to intimate concerts, the amphitheatre along with the grounds surrounding it are designed in a such a way that they can multi-day events including sporting events, private rentals, comedians and festivals. It’s no wonder Austin360 Amphitheatre won Pollstar’s ‘Best New Major Concert Venue.’

Over the years, the concert calendar has been quite impressive and improving with every passing year. It has produced concerts featuring top names in the industry including Nickelback, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Roger Walters, The Beach Boys, Stevie Nicks, Dave Mathews Band, Kenny Chesney, Madonna and the E Street Band just to name a few. Upcoming Austin 360 Events

Some of the upcoming events to be hosted at Austin360 Amphitheatre include Duran Duran with CHIC featuring Neil Rodgers on April 22, The 1975 with special guest star Wolfe Alice/The Japanese House on May 5, Journey and the Dubia Brothers on May 18 with special guest star Dave Mason as well as How Beautiful Tour by Florence + The Machines with guest Grimes. Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa will grace the stage on August 21 as part of the High Road Tour. Special guests include Jhene Aiko, Kevin Gates, DJ Drama and Casey Veggies.
